William Newman, MBA, CMC, SA
Managing Principal
Mr. Newman brings over 25 years of experience in strategy and IT planning across multiple industry sectors. He is a Certified Management Consultant since 1995 and has led several consulting practices at Booz & Company, DMR Consulting, KPMG BearingPoint, and Grant Thornton. His strategy work with high growth companies - from software start-ups to services firms to associations to green techs - has made him a leader in developing mindshare and market share for his clients in North America, Europe and around the world.
Mr. Newman is a trained SA-8000 social accountability consultant since 1999 and Social Fingerprint coach and trainer since 2012. Well-known in management consulting and industry circles, Mr. Newman served as a national board member of the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC USA) and currently serves as a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) Management Consulting Task force, and is a current member of the McKinsey Quarterly Executive Panel. Mr. Newman is a recognized SAP BusinessObjects Influencer by the Americas SAP User Group (ASUG) in the fields of EPM, GRC and Sustainability where he serves as a local chapter volunteer and member of the University Alliance program. He is a former executive and member of the US management team of the IT division of Volkswagen (now T-systems).
Mr. Newman is a graduate of the Henry Samueli School of Engineering at UCLA (BS, Aerospace Engineering) and holds a masters degree (MBA) from the Conrad L. Hilton School of Business at Loyola Marymount University. He is a current member of the adjunct faculty at Northwood University and the University of Oregon Sustainability Leadership Program, with previous appointments at the University of Michigan - Dearborn College of Business. He is a life member of the Economic Club of Detroit.
William is active in his community, serving as a youth leader to the Boy Scouts of America and as lay leader and civic volunteer to his congregation of the United Church of Christ. He is based in Detroit, and may be followed on Twitter (william_newman) and Google+ (+William Newman).
